Organisers of the annual Keetmanshoop Agricultural and Industrial Expo (KAITE), speaking during an exclusive interview with NBC News, assured exhibitors, residents and visitors alike that the 69th edition of the annual show will go on as planned at the Expo Show Grounds in Keetmanshoop.
The show will officially start on the 28th of October and run until the 1st of November.
Preparations for the annual agricultural expo are currently underway, as the final touches and logistics are put in place for what is expected to be one of the biggest shows since its inception nearly seventy years ago.
The annual expo is organised in partnership with the municipality of Keetmanshoop, the ||Kharas Regional Council and the Office of the ||Kharas Governor, with the main sponsor being Standard Bank of Namibia.
Speaking to NBC News, Karl Burger, the vice chairperson of KAITE, said that the venue for the show has not changed and residents and visitors can rest assured that all their expectations will be met during this year's edition.
"There is no other field that we can use. We are hosting about 68 stalls in the main hall; that hall alone you will not find it in Keetmans. We are hosting outside stalls for about 120 exhibitors; there is no field with that capacity. We have the big merry-go-round, which is taking the B field, and then we have the agriculture part, which accommodates animals. There is no way that we can move it, so people must be assured that come 28 October, we will be operating from here."
Several activities, which include an investment conference, a music bash and fun activities for the little ones, can equally be expected during this year's show.
"We are already starting with the Miss Expo, which will be this Friday. It is also a glamorous event and a huge one. Then we will be following the 20th Sunday evening with the Gospel Show, which is also enormous. We have artists from South Africa, like Bella, whom people know and love, and local artists around Keetmans and Hardap."
More than 300 local and international exhibitors are expected to showcase their products and services at this year's show, and nearly ten thousand visitors from all over the world are expected to attend during the week, which will be filled with various activities. Organisers say that the town of Keetmanshoop will equally benefit from activities at the showgrounds.
Potential exhibitors are urged to contact the organisers of the Keetmanshoop Agricultural and Industrial Expo should they wish to book one of the stalls.
