China's Ambassador to Namibia Zhao Weiping has outlined Beijing's latest political, economic, and diplomatic agenda, covering outcomes of the Communist Party's recent plenary session.
It also includes new commitments on women's development and China's evolving role in global governance.
Ambassador Weiping detailed the outcomes of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women, and the Global Governance Initiative proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping.
He said the Fourth Plenary Session, held in Beijing earlier this month, reviewed China's progress over the past five years and set a strategic direction for the next five-year period.
"The meeting emphasised that the next five years will be critical for China to basically realise socialist modernisation by 2035. We will continue to focus on appropriately handling our own affairs and writing yet another chapter of the miracles of rapid economic growth and long-term social stability, opening up new horizons for Chinese modernisation."
The Ambassador also spoke at the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women, held in Beijing.
Namibia was represented by the Deputy Minister of International Relations and Trade, Jenelly Matundu, who noted that women earmark a quota of US$100 million in China's Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund for implementing developing development cooperation projects for women and girls in collaboration with international organisations and launch 1,000 "small and beautiful" projects.
