The |Khomas Regional Council (KRC) held its sixth ordinary council meeting for 2025, which also marked its final meeting for the 2020 to 2025 period.
The gathering addressed the council's achievements over the time frame.
KRC Chairperson John Moonde expressed his satisfaction with the achievements thus far. He noted that the council started its term during the Covid-19 pandemic, but despite the challenges, it managed to deliver quality service to residents.
Moonde stated that, in terms of the health sector, clinics were renovated, and they managed to construct one clinic at Mix Settlement, made of prefabricated material.
"The City of Windhoek, NHE, and MURD, which is our line ministry, as well as the Khomas Regional Council, had a memorandum of understanding to build low-income houses, of which to date 556 houses have been handed over and are occupied, where the council contributed N$8 million. When it comes to education, we also have programmes that we call 'back to school' and also the tertiary education support, where we spend several thousands of dollars assisting new students and postgraduate students who want to register for tertiary education."
In addition, he said CCTV cameras were installed in various constituencies with the intention of combating crime.
High-mass street light installations in informal settlements are another achievement.
Moonde thanked the council for putting the interest of the residents first.
