The nationwide Festive Season Environmental Awareness Campaign has now reached Swakopmund.

Officials from the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism and the Environmental Investment Fund of Namibia engaged motorists and residents on responsible waste disposal practices.

As one of the preferred holiday destinations, Swakopmund is also facing increased challenges related to litter.

The Deputy Director of the Environmental Information and Natural Resources, Olimpio Nhuleipo, emphasised environmental protection requires consistent public participation and positive behavioural change.

Outreach activities were conducted within Swakopmund, where officials engaged community members on key environmental messages and carried out clean-up activities in selected areas.

Erongo Regional Governor Natalia |Goagoses joined the campaign to reinforce the call for cleaner and safer communities during the festive season.

"Please keep your children from the sea without your supervision. Once you are done with your celebration at the beach, please take your children back home so that your children and even the family who might have been enjoying it and are tired can also go rest because we don't want to present any casualty at the seaside, but please enjoy yourselves responsibly. Swakopmund is ready to accommodate you all. As far as safety and security are concerned, we have deployed all our security clusters all over the region, so please cooperate and have a blessed festive season in our Erongo Region."

The Festive Season Environmental Awareness Campaign continues to call on all residents and travellers to play their part in keeping towns, roads, and public spaces clean.
