The Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) has extended its appreciation to President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, following the government's recent decision to recognise the Baster Gemeente Traditional Authority and the approval of Herbert Britz as its designated Kaptein.

“I just want to thank you, your Excellency, on a matter that I have worked on for so many years, that your government, after so many years, has now recognised the Baster Traditional Authority. I brought the Private Members Bill; I lobbied, but at the end of the day, you have given that due recognition to the Baster community, and for that, I wholeheartedly thank you for taking such a bold step in harmonising our country's traditional leaderships,” PDM leader McHenry Venaani added.
