The Namibia Food and Allied Workers Union (NAFAU) and Bokomo Namibia have signed a two-year wage agreement granting workers a salary increase of N$1,000 over the period.

Employees within the bargaining unit will receive an across-the-board increase of N$500 effective 1 April to 31 March 2027.

A further N$500 increase will take effect from 1 April 2027 to 31 March 2028.

The agreement stipulates that all other conditions of employment, including transport arrangements and existing benefits not addressed in the deal, will remain unchanged.

In a joint statement, the parties commended both union and company negotiators for their commitment and professionalism.

Bokomo Namibia CEO Hubertus Hamm thanked all parties for their efforts in successfully concluding the wage agreement with NAFAU.

"I am glad that we can work together as social partners. It was a long negotiation, it was a tough discussion, but at the end we can't wait for the next two years and the working relationship."

NAFAU and Bokomo Namibia also reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining constructive labour relations.

"NAFAU is a recognised organic agent representing Bokomo employees together with Bokomo management. For the OJ negotiation in February, 12.6. And despite the challenge, economical developments characterised by higher inflation and the increase of cost pressure, the party engages in the constructive, and the solution is driven by the discussion," said the deputy secretary general of NAFAU, Absalom Willem.
