The Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) and Bank Windhoek have formalised a new partnership aimed at strengthening communication and expanding outreach for both institutions.

The agreement of N$1.6 million over three years positions NBC as a key platform for the bank to reach wider audiences.

Bank Windhoek's Communications Manager Jacquiline Pack said the partnership follows several engagements between the two entities.

"We believe that NBC is a strategic partner because you play a significant role in the dissemination of information through mobile platforms, and as Bank Windhoek, we are honoured to have this partnership with you."

She described NBC as a strategic partner, citing its national reach and role in information dissemination.

Pack added that the bank identified multiple areas of collaboration during a tour of NBC facilities, noting opportunities for a mutually beneficial relationship.

The bank also highlighted the importance of the partnership in supporting changes in the banking sector, including the rollout of instant payment systems aimed at improving financial inclusion.

NBC's acting Chief of News and Programming, Sacky Shikufa, welcomed the partnership, describing it as timely amid ongoing transformation within the broadcaster.

"As you might be aware, we have a leadership transition. This is the first time in 36 years that NBC has appointed a female Director General, who understands the business and is one of us. And I think now is the right time to help such a partnership."

NBC's Head of Department for News and Current Affairs, Peter Denk, said the partnership will help amplify national development stories and showcase Namibia's progress.

"But through this partnership, we would be able to tell that story. And we would encourage all our areas to tell a story about Namibia on the move."

The broadcaster's Chief Commercial Officer, Nico Mwiya, said NBC is upgrading its systems to improve service delivery to clients.

"Regarding the other interests that were shared by the rest of the team, it's quite exciting. Regarding all the platforms we plan to utilise for you, the options are quite impressive and amazing. So what we'll do is we'll do a document that indicates everything that we discuss."

He added that NBC is adopting a more customer-focused approach, allowing partners to customise their advertising and content needs.

The delegation was taken through NBC studios and operational areas, where they were introduced to broadcasting processes and the pressures of live production.

Both parties expressed optimism that the collaboration will enhance storytelling, strengthen brand visibility, and contribute to national development.
