The community of Kamupupu Village in the Kavango West Region held a moment of prayer honouring the lives that were lost at Kamupupu Village during the period of the liberation struggle.
Swapo Party Coordinator in the Kavango West Region, Elina Diparo, said, "So here, there was a bomb planted in this place. This was a road that was used before, and this incident happened in 1983. In 1983, the South African army put someone here, in a camp, and they decided to plant a bomb on the road. Their aim was just to make people; it's like punishing people that are supporting Swapo."
A family member of one of the victims, Wido Mufenda, urged the government to recognise and support the brave individuals from Kamupupu village who fought in the liberation struggle.
"We have a lot of freedom fighters who fought for this country in their villages. My request is for the government to be merciful. I heard that you are from parliament and you are a lawmaker. Since you are a member of parliament, the message is in the right hands." I am asking you to take this message directly to the Parliament and the two big names that you meet that I did not mention. Your loved ones that are still crying."
