New members of the National Council delivered their maiden speeches, pledging loyalty, dignity, commitment, and accountability in their service.

The members expressed gratitude to their constituents for entrusting them with the responsibility of addressing key challenges such as unemployment, food security, poverty, and service delivery.

Raymond Jossop, Councillor for Berseba Constituency, said: “Your dreams are now my duty. I am aware that the call to serve the Namibian people is both complex and profoundly challenging. We are at a pivotal crossroads in our country’s history. As we usher in the 8th administration, we do so with a clear understanding that this era is designed to answer the cry of the nation.”

Piniel Pakarae, Councillor for Epukiro Constituency, added: “I pledge to execute the National Council mandate of representation, to review oversight functions with agility and attention to detail. Together, we must ensure that in the next five years, we make a serious impact in defeating the terrible threats of unemployment, poverty, and inequality.”

Matheus Hangula, Councillor for Tsumeb Constituency, stated: “I remain committed to working constructively with all honorable members in advancing the interests of our country. My commitment is to serve with purpose, integrity, and measurable outcomes.”

Erickson Ndawanifa, Councillor for Okahao Constituency, said: “As we deliver services to our communities, we must commit and be accountable to the public and the electorate.”

The MPs reaffirmed their commitment to fast-tracking development initiatives. They also pledged to expand service delivery to rural areas and boost agriculture to address unemployment and food security.

Vilho Nuunyango, Councillor for Oniipa Constituency, stated: “My key priorities include expanding water infrastructure to ensure every household has access to clean water and targeting youth unemployment through strategic, targeted projects.”

Augusta Katembo, Councillor for Mukwe Constituency, said: “My debates and contributions will focus on key issues affecting our people, including rural development, infrastructure, access to quality education and health care, agricultural support and food security, youth empowerment and employment opportunities, environmental protection, and sustainable use of natural resources.”
