Today is International Nurses Day, and the Ministry of Health and Social Services in the Kavango East Region is commemorating the day with a lineup of activities.
The day started off with a walk through Rundu’s busiest part of town.
The crowd walked from Intermediate Hospital Rundu to the Rundu Trade Fair Centre, where they will be treated to drama performances and cultural performances.
The programme will also include the nurse’s pledge, a testimony from a patient, and a keynote address from Kavango East Governor Hamunyera Hambyuka, among many other activities.
International Nurses Day (IND) is observed annually on May 12, which is the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth.
The day is set aside to honour the many contributions nurses make to their communities on a daily basis.
