As Botswana prepares to assume the chairmanship of the Southern African Customs Union (SACU) on 15 July, President Duma Boko has reaffirmed his country's commitment to strengthening regional integration.

Speaking after accepting the incoming chairmanship from South Africa, President Boko pledged to work closely with Namibia to advance the long-awaited Trans-Kalahari Railway project. which will link Botswana's coalfields to the Port of Walvis Bay.

The railway is expected to boost regional trade, improve transport connectivity and unlock new economic opportunities that extend to the Southern African region.
