Choosing a career remains one of the biggest challenges facing many young people, with a lack of information often leaving learners uncertain about their future. Career fairs are helping to close that gap by exposing learners to different professions, study opportunities and the subject choices required to achieve their career goals.

Many learners complete secondary school still uncertain about which careers to pursue or what subjects are required to achieve their ambitions.

Career fairs are helping bridge that gap by exposing learners to a wide range of professions while connecting them with institutions and professionals who can guide them in making informed career choices.

Learners at! Guxa-eibes Secondary School in Otjiwarongo took part in a career fair designed to equip them with information on academic pathways, career opportunities and the subjects required for different professions.

"And I'm very happy to hear what they told me because it opened my future, and I'm a newborn person for a day," says learner Ivan Karukua.

Otjozondjupa Health Director Gebhardo Timoteus and !Guxa-eibes Secondary School Principal Kunovandu Hepute says career fairs are aimed at guiding the Namibian child on different career opportunities and the subjects they need to study to pursue them.

"Dear learners, you are at the critical stage of your life; the choices you make today, especially regarding your education in future careers, will shape the trajectory of your life."

"I'm expecting that these learners will now get into their zones to make sure that they are now studying towards their goals. I believe that after the event they will be well invested with skills and knowledge on how to choose careers, and they can be able to choose the careers perfectly with the information given to them."

Shincheonji Volunteer Macarios Shimwandi explained why they partner with schools to host career fairs annually.

"We partnered with the school because we believe that they use is the most important thing, and this is something that comes from our chairman who believes in the importance of the Youth given the opportunity to shine in Blossom and be able to really show their true value to the whole nation in the whole world as well that's why we chose to partner with the school"

Shimwandi says the annual initiative aims to empower learners with the knowledge needed to make informed career choices while encouraging them to start planning for their future while still at school.
About eight institutions with professionals from different careers attended this year's Career Fair.
