The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology has signed a memorandum of understanding with Botswana's Ministry of Communication and Innovation to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

The agreement provides a framework for collaboration in digital transformation, cybersecurity, affordable connectivity and skills development.

It further reinforces the two countries' shared commitment to regional integration, economic growth and improved public service delivery.

Theofelus explained. “We are to continue strengthening cooperation in, of course, telecommunications, including improving network coverage between our two countries. We are also to conduct a gap analysis on network coverage along the Trans-Kalahari corridor and ensure the deployment of infrastructure to bridge the coverage gaps. We are also directed to complete the mobile services closing project on the very same route, and the parties, to continue engaging on opportunities to co-invest in the two Africa and the Equiano submarine cables. Of course, the Communication Regulatory Authority of Namibia and the Botswana Communications Regulatory Authority were to finalise the review of mutually agreeable pricing strategies for data roaming between the two countries, as well as explore the possibility of implementing number portability between them.”
