Swapo Party MP John Likando has raised concerns regarding issues at the Katima Mulilo Abbatior since its handover to Zambezi Meat Corporation (ZAMCO) earlier this year.

These include staff members not having been paid for over two months while more than 200 farmers' livestock are being held in quarantine with operations at a standstill.

"The Prime Minister is aware that there is a crisis at Katima Mulilo since ZAMCO took over, and as we stand, workers are not paid, farmers whose cattle are in the quarantines are not paid, and the investor who takes 70% of the shareholding of ZAMCO has not been properly vetted, and as we stand, livestock producers are not able to sell their cattle from this month, which means there will be no slaughter."

The Prime Minister, Elijah Ngurare, in his response stated that there will be a delegation from the line ministry to the abbatoir to assess the situation.

"This matter is receiving our highest attention, and this matter is truly unfortunate in terms of the content of the correspondence that we have received. So I am only assuring Comrade Likando because he is also a youthful farmer, just like Honourable Venaani, that this is a matter that we will take up and we will be able to give feedback. In fact, there is meant to be a delegation soon to be composed so that it goes there and attends to this matter."
