Namibia has reaffirmed its support for the "One China, Two Systems" policy and non-interference in China's domestic affairs.
President Hage Geingob said this in a letter to his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, congratulating him on the 73rd anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
The letter states that Namibia and China share a longstanding and historic bond of friendship and solidarity, premised on mutual respect and commitment to the sovereignty and inclusive development.
The two countries have been expanding diplomatic ties on all fronts, including enhancing friendship between Namibians and the Chinese people, since 1990.
President Geingob says Namibia attaches great importance to the comprehensive strategic partnership with China and wishes to contribute toward peace, stability and prosperity around the world.
Namibia-Sino relations were elevated to the level of comprehensive strategic partnership, the highest in foreign policy, following President Geingob's state visit to the Asian economic powerhouse in 2018.
The visit saw a number of cooperation agreements being signed between the countries.
