President Hage Geingob says Namibia and Botswana still have some outstanding mega projects which the two governments are committed to completing.

Dr Geingob said this during a courtesy call by the outgoing High Commissioner of Botswana to Namibia, Dr Batlang Comma Serema, at State House.

Last month, the inaugural session of the Botswana-Namibia Bi-National Commission identified a number of cooperation areas that could increase trade between the two neighbours.

The introduction of IDs for travel, a joint bid to host the AFCON tournament and subsequent envisaged infrastructure, and the sharing of water resources are just some of the plans in the pipeline.

President Geingob says the close relationship between him and his counterpart, Mokgweetsi Masisi, makes it easier for the implementation of policy decisions by the two countries.

The Namibian and Botswana governments also agreed to establish a one-stop border stop at Mamuno-Trans Kalahari Border Post.

The latest from the Namibia Revenue Agency is that a draft implementation plan has been shared with the Botswana Unified Revenue Services before it reaches the two presidents.

NAMRA's Commissioner told nbc News that a steering committee comprising officials from both countries has been set up and the process is being finalised.

The outgoing High Commissioner, Dr Serema, is satisfied with the progress.

The Motswana diplomat has served in Namibia for two and a half years.
