President Hage Geingob has congratulated Brazil's President-elect, Luiz Inácio "Lula" da Silva, on his victory in the just-ended elections.
In the closely contested elections, Da Silva received 50.8% of the vote, while incumbent Jair Bolsonaro received 49.2%.
President Geingob, in a letter to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, said that his victory has come at a critical time when international friends need to strengthen bonds of solidarity for the international community to prosper collectively.
To be elected as a president, Geingob says, is a momentous achievement on its own. However, being elected President for the third time speaks highly of Lula's character, pedigree, and the trust the people of Brazil have in him to lead them once again.
The Head of State further said that Namibia and Brazil are neighbours, separated only by the Atlantic Ocean.
As a result, the two countries have always had excellent relations and cooperation, particularly in areas such as defense and naval cooperation, as well as food security and education.
