Swapo Party members in the ||Kharas Region want a leader who is inclusive for the position of Vice- President.
They shared their views on the sidelines of a gathering at Keetmanshoop where the party candidates vying for the top three positions were expected to make presentations to Swapo Party Extra-Congress delegates from the ||Kharas Region.
The incumbent Vice-President, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, and Environment, Forestry and Tourism Minister, Pohamba Shifeta are vying for the party's Vice-Presidency position.
Candidates for the party's Vice-Presidency, Secretary-General, and Deputy Secretary General were expected to engage the delegates for presentation and questions.
Incumbent Swapo Party Secretary General Sophia Shaningwa and Oshikoto Regional Coordinator Armas Amukwiyu are set to contest for the Secretary-General Position.
The Deputy Secretary General position will be contested by MP Lucia Witbooi, Eveline Nawases-Taeyele, and Kavango West Regional Coordinator Dawid Hamutenya.
Some delegates at the gathering shared their opinions about the candidates.
"Personally I will prefer a candidate that is inclusive, that will accommodate everybody, that is willing to follow the principles of the party."
"My preferred presidential candidate should be someone that has integrity, have leadership qualities, a presidential candidate must be inclusive in terms of all the regions in this country, and that candidate must follow the principles of the party."
"Specifically like from the youth perspective, we are looking for someone who is going to transform the party for the better, someone who will unite the divided Swapo."
"Somebody that will care for the community, especially in the South, because we feel left out by the former presidents, the person we will elect must bring changes."
"The leader ware are going to elect must bring people back home."
