The Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Technology has reminded government institutions that an effective communication strategy is a key to organizations improving their strategic planning meant to advance development.
Emma Theofelus was addressing an engagement session on the government's communication strategy with regional officials at Gobabis.
Theofelus says the government's communication strategy serves as the blueprint for each individual office's approach to communication.
The strategy, she added, emphasizes the importance of open communication when dealing with public duties and keeping with the public's expectations.
"Communication involves strategic activities on a daily basis that are directed, planned, assessed, and developed. Communication in all is a key part of management in any organization, and it should be seen as every public office bearer's job."
The deputy minister noted that the public requires adequate information if it is to understand, respond to, influence, and implement development decisions.
Omaheke Regional Governor, Pijoo Nganate, acknowledged the benefits of a better communication strategy.
"We know that the national economic development agenda, such as the NDP, the Harambee Plan, and other related ones, must be understood, and in order to be understood, they must be effectively implemented and communicated."
