President Hage Geingob returned home this afternoon after attending the US-African Leaders Summit in Washington, DC.

Dr. Geingob was overwhelmed with the outcome of the summit and emphasized substantive consultations and meetings with the African leaders, which among other things delved into how to resolve the continent's issues.

While there, Namibia and the US African Development Foundation signed a Memorandum of Understanding to support SME industries and the rural economy in Namibia.

Under the MoU, various programs would be funded to the tune of US$10 million over a five-year period.

The President also extended his visit to one of the world's largest reserves of natural gas, Qatar.

There, he had the honor of watching the final World Cup match between France and Argentina.

Geingob says his visit to Qatar will build relations and pave the way for Namibia and Botswana's bid to co-host the 2027 AFCON.

President Geingob also expressed his condolences to the families whose loved ones died in the flash flood last week in the capital.
