A pre-season tournament was hosted at the Samora Machel Sports Field in the Havana settlement this past weekend in Windhoek.

The tournament, which included more than twenty teams from the Samora Machel league, was played over a period of two weekends in a knockout format.

The Samora Machel league is scheduled to resume in a few weeks and this pre-season tournament thus served as an initiative to ready the teams. 

It eventually came down to two finalists: The Samora Machel league Champions Ondobe Eleven FC were up against The Lions FC in a final encounter which saw good football being displayed.

The game was played at a high pace with both teams firing from all cylinders as they knew what was at stake.
