The Ohangwena Emergency Task Force is working on assisting learners whose schools have been affected by the flood.

The flood waters from southern Angola, which reached the western part of Ohangwena Region about a month ago, have disrupted the lives and well-being of many residents.

This situation has forced the closure of approximately 18 schools in the region, as all roads leading to schools through the floodplains are completely cut off.

Onanghulo Combined School and Udjombala Senior Secondary School in the Engela constituency are among the 23 schools that are affected by the floods.

Learners are now camping at schools to ensure that lessons, particularly for grade 11, continue uninterrupted.

On Monday, the Regional Emergency Response Unit handed over food items to these schools to supplement the efforts of the parents.

The two school principals commended the regional leadership for the prompt response to their situation.
