FINAL MALAWIAN RETURNEES ARRIVE FROM SA

The final buses carrying Malawian returnees from South Africa arrived in Mwanza on Friday, ending a government-funded programme that brought home more than 56,700 people.

Returnees were observed unloading belongings and undergoing checks before receiving aid.

Brian Banda, the Director General of the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) has died on Saturday.

His funeral will take place on Monday.

Colleagues described him as a dynamic force in public broadcasting.

Banda was appointed to lead the MBC on 16 November 2025.

Malawi's electoral body chairperson, Annabel Mtalikanja, announced that all polling stations closed at 20:00 last night and counting is underway at polling stations across the country.

Presidents attend Kulamba ceremony
