Damaged schools in Otjozondjupa Region to be renovated

Government schools that have been damaged by wind and rain storms in the Otjozondjupa Region will be renovated during this financial year.

This was revealed by the region's governor, James Uerikua, during the State of the Region Address.

A 58-year-old man plummeted to his death from a 15-metre-high water tower in Otjiwarongo on Saturday.

The deceased, who is yet to be identified, was part of a team contracted by Otjiwarongo Municipality to work on the tower.

Otjozondjupa Region has highlighted a lack of special schools or resource centres in the region as a concern. 

Otjozondjupa Regional Council Chairperson, Marlene Mbakera, says government schools are also not inclusive towards children with disabilities, resulting in them not completing school.
