Namibia's unemployment rate rises to 36.9%

More than half of Namibia’s working-age population is either unemployed or part of the potential labour force, according to the 2023 Population and Housing Census Labour Force Report released by the Namibia Statistics Agency on Wednesday.

Namibia's export earnings drop by 12.7% in August to N$8.7 Billion

Namibia's export earnings stood at N$8.7 billion in August this year. This figure represents a decline of 12.7% from N$10 billion recorded in July 2024. 

The import bill for the month under review stood at N$12.3 billion. This is an increase of 1.9% from N$12 billion recorded during the preceding month.

Namibian economy expands due to mining sectors' growth

Namibia's economy has expanded in the third quarter to 7.2%, compared to 5.4% in the corresponding period last year.

The growth is attributed to the mining and quarrying sector, which posted a phenomenal 51.7% growth in real added value.
