The siblings of Namibia’s incoming President, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, celebrated her political milestone while urging her to uphold the values instilled by their parents.
Canner Kalimba, 81, described Nandi-Ndaitwah as a joyful and thoughtful child, qualities they believe are crucial as she prepares to lead the country.
The siblings emphasized their late father’s teachings, particularly the importance of avoiding debt, which could harm the economy. They also cautioned against "under-the-table dealings."
"We, your siblings, are thrilled that God has chosen you to lead Namibia. Lead with honesty and integrity. Rely on God, not just yourself, to be the best version of yourself and bring positive change, especially for the downtrodden and those who have lost hope," they said.
The eight surviving Nandi siblings encouraged the President-Elect to make bold decisions, particularly in nation-building.
They stressed that her legacy must champion positive change for ordinary citizens by addressing hunger and poverty.
"Your new role will require decisive decisions, which is not easy. Remember God and strengthen teamwork. Avoid bad decisions that could put you and the government in a bad light and dash the hopes of Namibians who have entrusted you with this role," they added.
They also highlighted the importance of holding those in key positions accountable, as her success will depend on their performance.
