United States authorities say Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro faces criminal charges linked to drug trafficking and weapons offences in the United States.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Maduro has been indicted in New York.

The Minister of International Relations and Cooperation (MIRCO), Peya Mushelenga, says the UN Security Council cannot keep postponing the fulfilment of the desires of Africans to reform the institution for broader representation.

Namibian President Dr. Hage Geingob and Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa recently met in New York during their attendance at the UN General Assembly.

First Lady Monica Geingos, during an advocacy event at the Organisation of African First Ladies, asserted that closing the gender gap should not be viewed as an act of charity but as an act of justice.
