Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo reappointed

President Nangolo Mbumba has reappointed Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo as Inspector General of the Namibian Police for a period of three years. 

The appointment is with effect from 1 October 2024 to 30 September 2027.

President Nangolo Mbumba has encouraged all UN member states to reflect seriously on how they can continue to build on multilateralism.

He said this as the negotiations for the Pact of the Future are underway, to be adopted at the end of the Summit of the Future in New York.

President Mbumba to attend FOCAC

President Nangolo Mbumba has left for Beijing, China, where he will join more than 50 African leaders for the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

The Forum was established to promote equal consultation, enhancing understanding and promoting cooperation among member countries.

President Mbumba to meet President Jinping

President Nangolo Mbumba will hold a courtesy meeting with his Chinese counterpart, President Xi Jinping, on the margins of the 9th Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

FOCAC is scheduled to take place from the 2nd to the 6th of September in Beijing.

President Mbumba reflects on humble beginnings on 83rd birthday

Today, August 15, President Nangolo Mbumba turned 83 years old. 

Born in the village of Olukonda in the Oshikoto Region on August 15, 1941, President Mbumba started his professional career as a teacher and eventually achieved his ambition to become a headmaster.
