President Mbumba conveys condolences to Mozambique

President Nangolo Mbumba has extended condolences to his Mozambican counterpart, Filipe Nyusi, and the people of Mozambique following a ferry tragedy that killed more than 90 people, including children.

The ferry capsized off Mozambique's northern coast in Nampula Province, en route to a nearby island, on Sunday.

According to local media reports, some survivors managed to reach the island's shore but died there as they were not able to get medical help on time, bringing the death toll to 98 people.

Brazil wishes to deepen economic and trade relations with Namibia

Brazil would like to deepen its cooperation and economic and trade relations with Namibia. 

Its Ambassador to Namibia, Vivian Loss Sanmartin, says possibilities to increase trade between Brazil and Namibia are almost without a limit.

She was speaking to nbc News against the backdrop of the visit of a 10-member business community delegation from Brazil to Namibia.

The delegation is in Namibia for a weeklong visit to explore business and investment opportunities. 

EU, German diplomats reminded to respect Vienna Convention principles

The Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation (MIRCO) has maintained that the government has no objection as to who diplomatic missions accredited to Namibia engage. 

It says, however, that discussions on issues that are the sole preserve and prerogative of the sending and host governments, with a conversant not representing the government, are inconsistent with diplomatic practices and akin to interference in the domestic affairs of the country.

Minister Peya Mushelenga holds productive talks with Russian counterpart

The Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Peya Mushelenga, had substantive and productive talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

Dr. Mushelenga's visit was his first visit to Russia as Minister of International Relations and Cooperation.

A statement issued by the Russian Embassy says the two ministers agreed that bilateral ties, rooted in the uncompromising struggle of the Namibian people for self-determination, are expanding and based on friendship and mutual affection between the peoples.

Namibia to make oral statement on Israel at ICJ

Namibia will make an oral statement before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) against Israel's war on Gaza at the Peace Palace in The Hague, Netherlands, next Friday, February 23rd.

The submission will address the legal consequences arising from the policies and practices of Israel in the occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem.

Cabinet has designated the Ministry of Justice to deliver Namibia's statement during the proceedings.

Transparency International Iceland has disclosed the Nordic country's lowest Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) score, attributing the drop to inaction in the Fishrot scandal.

In a stark revelation, Transparency International Iceland has announced that Iceland has recorded its lowest Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) score to date, losing six points over the last five years. 

The prominent decline is attributed predominantly to the failure to address the Fishrot scandal, as outlined in the attached press release from TI Iceland.

ICJ to announce ruling on Israel’s Gaza war tomorrow

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) is expected to rule this Friday on whether it will grant emergency measures requested by South Africa to stop the genocidal war in Gaza.

The ICJ heard the case by South Africa against Israel and requested provisional measures to stop the carnage in Palestine.

According to a statement from the ICJ, a public sitting will take place at midday at the Peace Palace in the Hague, during which the President of the Court, Judge Joan Donoghue, will read the Court's Order.

Namibia to intensify support for Cuba

Namibia condemns Germany's support of Israel's carnage in Gaza

Namibia has condemned Germany for supporting Israel in its genocidal acts in Gaza.

Germany expressed its support for the attacks on Friday, as Israel was defending itself against South Africa's case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), accusing it of genocide and calling for the ICJ to stop the Jewish State from continuing its war in Gaza.

South Africa told the court in The Hague that Israel is busy with the destruction of infrastructure in Gaza and of the Palestinian people.
