Mashi  Nfumu Joseph Tembwe Mayuni in the Zambezi Region says his community feels a dark cloud has befallen on them and is yet to come to terms with the death of the late president Geingob.

Nfumu Mayuni made the remarks at the Mashi Traditional Authority's memorial service for the late head of state.

The late President Hage Geingob has been praised for supporting labour matters at a memorial service held in his honour by the Ministry of Labour, Industrial Relations, and Employment Creation.

National Council members and government executive directors expressed their deepest sympathies and offered their support to the Geingo family during their time of mourning.

The United Nations in Namibia has expressed deep sadness at the death of President Hage Geingob and highlighted that they stood, just as Geingob did, for the values of human rights, social justice, and the well-being of the Namibian people.

The Namibian government has announced a change in the dates for the memorial and funeral services for the late President Hage Geingob.

Initially, it was announced that Friday, February 23, and Saturday, February 24, would be the dates for the final memorial and state funeral service, respectively.

The African National Congress (ANC) and the Swapo Party were sister liberation movements that collaborated closely in the struggle for the liberation of South Africa and Namibia. 

Numerous youth leaders came to the fore to express their condolences to the nation.

Among them was Sylvanus Lotto, the Regional Chairperson of the Tukwatha Youth Organisation.

The Tukwatha Youth Organisation aims to aid and occasionally organise activities for other youth groups. 

Swapo Party members in the Otjozondjupa Region say the legacy of President Hage Geingob will not be honoured if unity is not maintained.

Over the years, Swapo membership in the region has been dwindling, and factions have formed along district and regional ranks.
