The ||Kharas Regional Council is making progress in implementing infrastructure development projects despite slow movement due to budgetary constraints.

The anticipated establishment of an electricity supply and distribution company for the southern regions has raised the ire of residents, who say they were not consulted.
 

With the influx of people to Oranjemund in the ||Kharas Region since its proclamation as a local authority, the former mining town faces an acute housing shortage.

Against this backdrop, the town council began housing projects to address the housing squeeze.

||Kharas Governor Aletha Frederick has reminded the regional political leadership to uphold the country's constitution.
 
She made the call during the Regional Development Update address.

Cabinet has issued a directive to NamPower to put on hold the planned suspensions of power supply to defaulting local authorities.

The Minister of Finance and Public Enterprises, Ipumbu Shiimi, said this in a letter to the NamPower Board Chairperson, Daniel Motinga, yesterday.

The Namibian Police (NamPol) says the recent shortlisting for recruitment of cadet constable officers is still in the infancy stage and is not final.

The comments by the police come amid a public outcry over the shortlisting of candidates, particularly in the Hardap and ||Kharas regions.

Angolan Ambassador to Namibia, Jovelina e Costa is on a familiarization visit in the ||Kharas and Hardap Regions, where she is expected to meet with Angolan citizens based there. 

It is unclear how many Angolan nationals are currently residing in the two regions.
