NamPower launches Pasop Stay Safe campaign

Electrical power structures are meant to benefit of all.

To raise awareness of electrical safety, the power utility NamPower launched its safety campaign called 'Pasop Stay Safe' at Mariental in the Hardap Region.

The safety campaign is aimed at cautioning the public not to build under or near electricity infrastructures. 

It is also illegal and dangerous to start a fire under a power line.

The public is also urged to refrain from illegal electricity connections and removing copper wires.

NamPower announces country wide disconnection of power on all defaulting clients

NamPower has announced a country-wide electricity disconnection of power in stages for all its defaulting clients.

Clients affected are those receiving electricity through the central and northern electricity distributors, Cenored and Nored.

In the ||Kharas and Hardap regions, all defaulting villages and town councils except Keetmanshoop will be without electricity from June 5 if they don’t settle their overdue accounts by May 31.

In the |Khomas Region, Windhoek will be spared the shutdown, while Brakwater and Groot |Aub are affected.

NAMPOWER, NORED urged to improve on their service delivery in Kavango West

The regional leadership and residents of Kavango West Region are disappointed at the poor service delivery by NamPower and Northern Electricity Distributor company.

The power utilities held a regional stakeholder engagement at Nkurenkuru on the frequent power outages in the region.

Participants at the engagement including Governor Sirkka Ausiku did not mince their words in calling on the companies to improve their services with immediate effect.

!Hoachanas community unhappy with settlememt office

The community of !Hoachanas in the Hardap Region has expressed their dissatisfaction with the settlement office over what they termed a dysfunctional office and slow development.

To gain insight, the MICT Hardap team spoke with the Regional Councillor of Mariental Rural Constituency and the community.

The !Hoachanas residents say there are no new developments and the only business park and market in the resettlement are closed.

CoW & DBN sign loan agreement

City of Windhoek and the Development Bank of Namibia signed a loan agreement of N$155 million to finance the construction of the Khomas Intake Substation project.

Developments in residential, commercial, and industrial areas throughout the city have led to an ever-increasing demand for power.

Currently, the existing Nampower Van Eck Substation cannot be upgraded further to accommodate anticipated demand as it has reached its full physical design capacity, which is expected to be surpassed before 2027.
