Namibian government allocates N$110 million for 30 network tower installations

The Namibian government has allocated N$110 million over three years for the installation of 30 network towers.

This is intended to address the digital disparity and improve nationwide access to information. 

This commitment was conveyed by the Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Emma Theofelus. 

Additionally, the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) organised an information exhibition as a demonstration of support for the Minister.

Namibian Government commended for maintaining 34 years of peace

The residents of an informal transit settlement area, created by the Keetmanshoop Municipality for people on the waiting list to be allocated land, commended the Namibian Government for maintaining 34 years of peace and stability.

The Iileni informal settlement is a reception area set up by the Keetmanshoop municipality, which is home to nearly 800 people.

President Mbumba unveils N$297 million initiative to tackle urban land, housing backlog

The Namibian government remains steadfast in addressing the backlog of serviced urban land and affordable housing, providing an amount of N$297 million in subsidies to local authorities and regional councils.

President Nangolo Mbumba says this commitment is being carried out under the Mass Urban and Regional Land Servicing Programme.

The Mass Urban and Regional Land Servicing Programme has seen about 3,103 new plots fully serviced in various parts of the country, bringing the total number of serviced plots during the Harambee Prosperity Plan 2 period to 6,024. 

CNFA criticises government

The Confederation of Namibian Fishing Associations (CNFA) has criticised the government for competing unfairly against right holders, who are obligated to create jobs and add value to the industry.

Its chairperson, Matti Amukwa, says the government, which is exempt from applying for fishing quotas, has become the largest quota holder without the obligations that are placed on other right holders.

Amukwa was represented by Tunacor's Peya Hitula at a recent breakfast meeting at Walvis Bay.

Much needs to be done to uplift marginalised communities
