Namibia's National Disability Council calls for end to discrimination

The National Disability Council of Namibia is calling for an end to discrimination against people with disabilities.

The council this week launched its new logo during the commemoration of National Disability Day at Otjiwarongo.

The commemoration of National Disability Day began with the African Union Commission's 35th session on its 'Continental Plan of Action for the African Decade Plan of Persons with Disabilities'.

It is meant to increase awareness and understanding of disability issues.

Parliamentary understanding and capacity in labour migration governance

The African Union Commission (AUC), in collaboration with the SADC Parliamentary Forum (SADC PF), convened a two-day workshop in Windhoek to look at parliamentary understanding and capacity in labour migration governance. 

The Joint Labour Migration Programme convened parliaments from the SADC PF, the Economic Community of West African States, the East African Legislative Assembly, and the Pan-African Parliament.

Moussa Faki pays condolences to Geingo family at Casa Rosalia

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, visited Casa Rosalia to offer his condolences to former First Lady Monica Geingos and the children.

During his visit, Mahamat highlighted the significance of Namibia as a product of continental solidarity and organisation, emphasising the unity and strength that bind African nations. 

He shared personal experiences of benefiting from the late Geingob's guidance and brotherly counsel, recounting a meaningful dinner where they discussed the future of Africa for over 30 minutes. 

13th Ordinary Session of Exco AMCOW underway in Windhoek

Africa cannot realise its Agenda 2063 and SDGs if the issues of water sanitation and security are not addressed.

The African Union Commission (AUC) Director of Sustainable Environment and Blue Economy (SEBE) expressed these sentiments at the 13th Ordinary Session of Exco of the African Ministers' Council on Water (AMCOW) in Windhoek today.

Harsen Nyambe stressed that water is at the centre of all sectors, hence it is important to ensure that issues of water security and sanitation are addressed.
