More than 6,675 eligible voters in the Keetmanshoop Rural Constituency are expected to cast their ballots on May 15.

The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) has started with preparations for the Keetmanshoop Rural Constituency by-election. 

The by-election became necessary, following the expulsion of former regional councillor, Gerrit Witbooi by his party, Landless People's Movement. 

Former Keetmanshoop councilor completes 120-kilometer walk

The former Keetmanshoop Rural Constituency Councillor, Gerrit Witbooi, has completed his 120-kilometre walk from Springbok, South Africa, to Namibia's Noordoewer Border Post.

Witbooi was recently shown the door by his party and lost his seat as the constituency councillor.

LPM's Gerrit Witbooi suspended for a period of three months

The Landless People's Movement (LPM) has suspended its councilor on the ||Kharas Regional Council, Gerrit Witbooi, for a period of three months.

Witbooi has been on the council since his election as Keetmanshoop Rural Constituency Councillor in 2020.
