The former Keetmanshoop Rural Constituency Councillor, Gerrit Witbooi, has completed his 120-kilometre walk from Springbok, South Africa, to Namibia's Noordoewer Border Post.

Witbooi was recently shown the door by his party and lost his seat as the constituency councillor.

The former councillor joined members of Mighty Men, a religious organization that started the walk on January 21 from Cape Town, South Africa, to Windhoek.

The walk, dubbed 'Prophetic Revival Walk' will precede the national prayer day Mighty Men will hold in Windhoek on February 25.

"I met these people a year ago at Citrusdal; they have become my friends and family; and when they proposed this prophetic revival walk from Cape Town to Windhoek, I decided as a friend and also as a member of the Witbooi clan to come and join this beautiful group."

nbc News also asked the former councillor about his political future.

"Definitely, I will stand as an independent candidate; I will stand as Gerrit Albertus Witbooi together with the people of Aroab, Koes, Kronlein, Naute Dam, and Klein Karas. My work had started on December 2, 2022; what had happened had happened. Let that moment which had happened come up for a better moment. I will just come back on May 15 after the elections."

Witbooi is confident that he will take political office after the by-elections.

The Mighty Men Namibia leader, Romie Van Wyk, explained the purpose of the walk. "The time that we are currently staying in is the time that we need to hear the voice of the Lord, and while we are standing here, we need to bring the two countries of Namibia and South Africa together because the flame of revival is prophesied to come from the south, from the southern tip of Africa, and we are here to witness what the holy spirit will do for the two countries."
