Road safety boosts for B1 road

Visibility equipment to be used by the Namibian Police at high accident zones along the main national road in the Otjozondjupa Region is aimed at curbing road accidents.

A local mobile telecommunications company (MTC) stepped in and donated the reflector jackets, torches, and other goods worth N$63,000 to the Namibian Police.

Road crashes, accompanied by fatalities and injuries, are experienced every other week on the B1 Road.

Two people have died from injuries sustained in separate car accidents along the B1 road in the Otjozondjupa region. These accidents occurred as the Easter long weekend came to an end. In addition, a total of 32 people survived with minor injuries in separate minibus accidents in the region.

According to NamPol's Inspector Maureen Mbeha, the community affairs officer for the Otjozondjupa Region both accidents were caused by tire bursts, which resulted in the drivers losing control and the vehicles overturning multiple times.

RA embarks on feasibility study to determine condition of Okahandja-Otjiwarongo road

The Roads Authority (RA) will undertake a feasibility study on the condition of the Okahandja-Otjiwarongo road.

According to Sydney Boois, who is the Transportation Executive at the RA, the study is to determine the technical, economic, environmental, and social viability of the B1 road's preservation.

Otjozondjupa was identified as one of the regions with the highest statistics of road carnage in the country.
