National Assembly expected to debate joint declaration on genocide - Kuugongelwa-Amadhila

Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila said government is not merely seeking the approval of the joint declaration on the Nama-Herero genocide from the National Assembly (NA), but rather wants the house to debate it. Motivating the motion, she said it is not the intention of the SWAPO party in the National Assembly(NA) to bulldoze the house into approving the joint declaration. However several opposition MPs interjected her saying government has negotiated in bad faith on behalf of the affected communities, calling for the joint declaration to be rejected.
