NORED builds service centre at Nkurenkuru

The Northern Electricity Distributor Company (NORED) says electricity has become a basic commodity that all citizens must have access to. NORED board chairperson, Sacky Kayone says with this in mind, his company endeavours to expand its footprints to all corners in its area of operation. Kayone made the remarks at the groundbreaking event for the construction of NORED's service centre at Nkurenkuru in the Kavango West region. Nkurenkuru has been growing exponentially since becoming the capital of the region in 2014 at the delimitation of then Kavango into east and west regions. Kayone says NORED is ready to fulfil its mandate - that of ensuring a reliable and equitable electricity supply. Kavango West Governor, Sirkka Ausiku welcomed the development, calling on other government ministries, agencies and companies to set up shop in the region to provide effective and efficient basic services. Her speech was read by Nkurenkuru Constituency Councillor, Fellipus Tenga. Among other services, the office will handle payments, maintenance, operations and new connection applications. Omagongati Building CC was awarded the tender to construct the building in six months for N$3,6 million.
