The Namibia University of Science and Technology, NUST, says there is need for quality education system if Namibia is to achieve its national development plans. Vice-Chancellor, Tjama Tjivikua, made the remark at the opening of a three-day symposium aimed at drawing up methods of implementing future education systems. He said the meeting allowed exchange of experience among the participants to improve the vocational training system. Professor Tjivikua noted the the conference has come at the time the government introduced a VET levy, to enhance vocational training development. He said the symposium was a collaboration between NUST and the German University of Rostock to improve higher education, mainly the vocational education training, VET. German professor, Bernd Lennartz, said the symposium allowed reviews on education systems in different countries. The symposium is being attended by representatives from 16 countries.
