The United Democratic Front (UDF) has pledged to implement free education, provide basic income grants for the unemployed, and promote equal wealth distribution if the party wins the upcoming elections.

The UDF has taken its election campaign to the Okombahe settlement in the Dâures Constituency of the Erongo Region, a stronghold for the party.

During the annual  ǂNŪKhoen Gaob festival held in Okombahe last weekend, Gaob Justus ||Garoeb expressed his support for the Swapo presidential candidate.

However, before delivering his speech, UDF president Hendrik Gaobaeb clarified that Garoeb's endorsement of Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah should not be linked to the UDF.

"I want to emphasize that UDF is a national party. It was not a rejection of UDF. Some people are questioning why Gaob is against the current president, and I want to clarify that if it weren’t for Gaob Garoeb, anyone from Sesfontein would not have had access to secondary or tertiary education. He has done so much for us. I know how much he cares for me; he never said not to vote for the UDF president."

Gaobaeb announced that, if elected, his party would provide a basic monthly income grant of N$500 to unemployed residents and increase social grants to N$3,500 per month.

"We will renegotiate all mining deals. We cannot continue to give away large stakes of our mines to foreign entities. These resources should generate significant revenue for the government to fund essential programs."

Additionally, the UDF has promised to implement free education from pre-primary through tertiary levels and ensure fair land distribution in both urban and rural areas.

"Housing in Namibia is a critical issue that will be a top priority for my office as head of state once elected," he said.

Twenty-year-old First Lady |Uises from the UDF youth league encouraged young people to vote for her party, which has committed to employing young individuals as deputy ministers.
