The opposition parties in the National Assembly are seeking legal opinion over the representation of MPs on the parliamentary standing committees, before contemplating to take the Speaker and Swapo Party to court. Addressing a media conference the parties say they could not agree with the ruling party on who should serve on the eight parliamentary standing committees, which in their interpretation must be based on proportional representation. Spokesperson of the National Assembly David Nahogandja would not comment on the matter, as the Office of the Speaker needs to study the argument of opposition parties first.
