A 35-year-old taxi driver has been arrested for allegedly raping an 8-year-old learner whom he was contracted to transport to and from school.

It is alleged that the suspect raped the young learner twice this week, on Monday and Tuesday, after picking her up from Klein Kuppe Private School in Ongwediva.

On the two days he picked her up, he stopped at different places and raped the victim in his taxi between Ekuku and Ongwediva.

The child’s mother noticed that her daughter was not walking properly, and upon inquiring from her, she revealed that the taxi driver had raped her.

Oshana police’s Community Affairs Officer Thomas Aiyambo has urged parents to monitor their children and educate them to report any strange advancements made to them.
