Cabinet took a number of decisions at its meeting this week in the interest of social development.

These resolutions relate to, among others, the Food Bank and the outcomes of the Namibia National Education Conference.

Announcing the decisions was Minister of Information and Communication Technology Dr. Peya Mushelenga.

Dr. Peya Mushelenga says Cabinet is in support of transforming the Food Bank into a Conditional Basic Income Grant.

The Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare has also started to register social grant beneficiaries on a new system that should be much safer from possible manipulation.

The cabinet further approved the draft Implementation Plan of the National Education Conference.

In this regard, the Ministry of Basic Education, Arts, and Culture and the Ministry of Finance and Public Enterprises has been directed to scrutinize the financial implications of the plan and determine the funding modalities for further consideration by the Cabinet.
