China is the latest country to express interest in Namibia's renewable energy industry, particularly the development of Green Hydrogen.

Administrator at the National Energy Administration of China, Zhang Jianhua paid a courtesy call on President Hage Geingob at the State House.

Dr. Geingob says Namibia remains open to investors from across the world for the development of the new green hydrogen and synthetic fuels industry.

China has already approved more than 455 gigawatts of wind and solar PV projects, to be located in desert regions.

The projects are to be commissioned by 2030.

Namibia's Green Hydrogen Council says it would engage the Chinese authorities as well as the private sector.

It says Namibia has been studying China's plans to deploy renewable energy assets and its quest to become carbon neutral by 2060.

So far Namibia plans to develop three hydrogen valleys in the Erongo, ||Kharas and Kunene regions.

The National Energy Administration of China drafts and implements the country's national energy policy and regulates energy sectors including coal, electricity, oil and gas and nuclear power.
