The Namibia University of Science and Technology has responded to allegations of maladministration made against the university and its Vice Chancellor Dr. Erold Naomab.
The allegations stem from three letters written to the institution's council and to the Minister of Higher Education, Innovation and Technology and circulating on social media.
One of the letters was authored by NAPWU while two more were delivered anonymously.
The authors accuse the Vice Chancellor of abusing his powers for personal gain, including using the university's vehicle for personal use whilst receiving a monthly car allowance.
Another charge leads that Dr. Naomab reportedly took 50 staff members to Swakopmund for a retreat, paying with a NUST credit card he had access to.
His challengers also took issue with Dr. Naomab's personal attendance during the recruitment process for Manager of Investigation, Manager of Organisational Learning and Development, and claim he secured a position for his wife as a lecturer at the institution.
The letters further allege that NUST management advanced an unlawful, institution-wide restructuring of the institution, in secrecy.
