The closing date for applications for Miss Namibia and Miss Teen Namibia is Wednesday, April 12.

Interested applicants are urged to visit the regional offices of the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (nbc) to access application forms and get the chance to represent Namibia on the international stage.

Since the nbc took over 100% ownership of the Miss Namibia Organization, the corporation has been going on roadshows throughout the country to ensure inclusive participation in the beauty pageant, which will take place in Swakopmund in June.

"So for Miss Teen Namibia, the age requirements are from 15 to 19 years of age, and there is also a video that needs to be handed over with your form as well as N$400. The video is a 30-second clip stating your name, your age, your town, and why you believe you should be Miss Teen Namibia 2023. For Miss Namibia, it's between the ages of 19 and 28. The entry fee is N$500 and is also accompanied by a short 30-second video clip stating your name, your age, your town, and why you should be crowned Miss Namibia 2023," explained Beaulah Beukes, Corporate Communications Officer of the nbc.

The current Miss Earth Namibia, Diana Andimba, encouraged young girls and women to take advantage of the opportunity presented through the nbc.

"My biggest number one thing is to be brave. Be brave enough to put yourselves in uncomfortable positions. I know you might be scared of filling in and writing those forms because you have a fear but move past your fear because you never know what will happen if you move past it and great things can come out of it. You are confident, you are capable, and you are worthy of the platform. You are worthy of being a role model. So you just need to believe in yourself and do it anyway. Do it scared. Don't be afraid, but do it."
