The completion of Meatco auction pens at Eiseb 10 is on track.

This includes the electrification of houses at Okatumba Gate with assistance from Nampower and the rehabilitation of the main road that links Otjombinde to Gobabis.

This was revealed by the councilor of Otjombinde Constituency, Wenzel Kavaka, in an interview with nbc News.

Kavaka says the idea is also to develop the Eiseb area and not only concentrate on the Talismanus settlement.

In addition, Kavaka says that with assistance from Meatco and Nampower, the constituency has committed to undertaking regional development without delay.

"We are having another project that is about to keep going at Okatumba gate. Nampower will electrify Okatumba very soon. The advert will be out. We are expecting that in mid-year or towards the third quarter of the year, the project should start kicking off, and I have alluded to earlier times that Okatumba Gate is an economic hub because it has a central point. Each and every second week, animals are being sold there, so at that place, we are selling more than 2,000 cattle per month, so we need to electrify it so that one day it can be a settlement."

Another key project anticipated in the constituency is the upgrading of the Trans-Kalahari and Talismanus roads, which are 148 km long and have low-volume sealed standards.

"It is a low volume, high standard seal that will be constructed because, according to the assessment, they have done visibility studies, and that's what they have recommended be constructed so that later it can be upgraded to a bitumen standard."
