A 43-year-old man, Ndafelai Nghilifilwa, committed suicide by stabbing himself in the stomach and cutting his throat with a traditional knife (Omukonda) in his bedroom at Ononge village in the Nehale Lyampingana Constituency in full view of his seven-month-pregnant wife.

It’s alleged that the deceased told his 37-year-old wife that he was going to visit his mother in the morning, and upon his return in the afternoon, he came back with a container of Otombo and gave it to his wife.

Nghilifilwa then told their kids to go collect beans in their mahangu field.

When the children left, he called his wife into their sleeping room, where he went on to mutilate and kill himself.

Police investigations revealed that early this month, the Nghilifilwa had an argument with his wife at a cuca shop, accusing her of having extramarital affairs with young boys, after which he assaulted her.

The couple has six children and has been married for 13 years.

There was no suicide note left, and the next of kin have already been informed.
