More than 2,000 students graduated from the Namibian University of Science and Technology.
The graduates include two inmates from the Namibian Correctional Facility who obtained a Bachelor in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, and 127 foreign students from Angola, Italy and Nigeria.
137 received certificates, 210 Diplomas, 599 obtained Bachelor's Degrees, 295 Honors Degrees and 223 Postgraduate diplomas.
The students obtained qualifications in Tourism, Communication, Business Management, and Criminal Justice.
In her keynote address the Minister of Higher Education, Training and Innovation Dr. Itah Kandjii-Murangi urged the community to continue upholding a culture of excellence by molding students to better the society.
"It is exciting because they say if you educate a woman, you educate a nation. However, it is becoming a concern for us, as a country, as a government, and as a sector because we cannot afford to leave our boy child behind. it has to be a challenge. Those who are responsible for driving the campaign of attracting students to see what needs to be changed for us to be able to attract more male students into our universities."
